We need Facebook alternatives for preteens
unless we find alternatives to Facebook for preteens, we will continue to have kids lying about their age, or their parents allowing them to lie, to join Facebook and other full-sized social networks

I agree totally. Now why is this not being done in a way to encourage the positive of social networking and with it keeping the children safe from on-line preditors. Perhaps it is not possible or it would be in process right now?
