Do we need a map to navigate to the new world?
The early discoverers didn't have a map to help them navigate from their flat world into a round world, and now it would seem that we really don't have a map to help us navigate from our round world into a world that is suddenly flat again.

I don't think many who would actually read things you or I say need a map... even if we aren't really the 'early' explorers... But given that reform these days seems hell-bent on unifying standards and better testing, I'd say a map about now would be a pretty good thing!
