Can we afford NOT to be data-driven?

we need to think a little more carefully about whether we can afford not to have the continuous data available which has allowed schools to really make an observable difference for children and young adults.

Most change comes as a result of research, and data is incredibly important to research.

The more we chase data the more we forget that education is a "people business", only we are in the people making business. Once we look at kids as a set of numbers, we forget about the people they are and the potential they have. Data deserves a place at the macro decision level, bu the more and more I see its use at the individual student level, the more I see students labeled with numbers and the less I see them treated with the individual nuances needed to make a difference in the lives of students.

"Good data cost good money" I forget who said it (probably @jonbecker) but it holds true.
Also, amen to what Tony said.
